The Red Sabre Novels are set in Athemisia, a colonial New World embroiled in conflicts from the Celestial Bureaucracy and Thyrian Empire. Here worlds collide along the iron rails crossing the heart of a rebellious country. Sorcery and steel has done only so much to quell rivals and natives alike. It is a world balanced on a precarious edge, where even the smallest light could ignite the powder kegs of conflict and war.
Charting the turbulent tracks in this world of coal-fired engines and clockwork wonders, are the rail mercenaries. Their trains bring needed supplies or reinforcements to beleaguered towns all the while trying to skirt the authority and heel of greedy rail barons. Their careers are typically unpredictable, violent and short-lived. But the call of freedom entices ever new souls to the promise of a better life from the coasts.
The series follows Captain Felicity Metticia and her ragtag crew of outcasts and misfits as they try to find their place in this untamed world.
